The Dar Ben Abdallah Museum of Traditional Arts and Customs, in Tunis, can be found on the ground floor of the 18th century Dar Ben Abdallah Palace. It is in the medina, the center of old Tunis. This museum is famed for its displays of traditional Tunisian arts as well as its exhibits of the customs of the city of Tunis. Most museums in Tunisia are closed on Mondays. Tunisia is a land of festivals. Every city and village, no matter how large or small, hosts festivals to which visitors are welcome. The Saharian Festival celebrates the vast expanses of the Sahara. It is in Douz and occurs during the second week of November. All classical music fans would love to see the International Music Festival at the El Jem Coliseum from mid-July through mid-August. It features world renowned arts and orchestras. All performances take place on soft Tunisian evenings under the starts in a Roman Coliseum!
Tunisians depend on bread, “the staff of life”, at every meal. In the city you will find breads from all over the world. In country villages bread is most often unleavened and baked in clay ovens called Tabounas. Every place you visit in Tunisia will offer its own bread specialties. Every visitor to London absolutely must see the following sights and attractions whilst staying in the capital city of the UK.
- Big Ben: is the nickname of the bell in the clock at the north end of Westminster Palace. It is the largest chiming four faced clock in the world. It’s the third largest free-standing clock tower in the world.
- The Tower of London: is on the north bank of the River Thames. It was founded in 1066 during the Norman Conquest. The White Tower, from which the castle takes its name, was built by William the Conqueror. It became a prison in 1100 and has been used as one since. The tower of London is a group of building set within two concentric rings of walls and a moat that surrounds it.
- London Bridge: is a bridge that spans the River Thames and connects London City and Southwark in central London. It is the western end of the Pool of London. It was the only bridge over the downstream of the Thames until 1729 when the Putney Bridge opened. The present bridge opened in 1793, one of many bridges at the same site that have been called London Bridge.
- The Buckingham Palace Changing of the Guard: London’s number one tourist attraction. In 1702 it was built as the London Home of the Duke of Buckingham. The state rooms of Buckingham Palace are open to the public from late July to September. The military groups that guard the royal residences in London are the Queen’s Guard and the Queen’s Life Guard.
- The London Eye: (or Millennium Wheel) is a huge Ferris wheel (443 feet or 135 metres tall). It is the tallest Ferris wheel in all of Europe and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK. You can find it at the western end of Jubilee Gardens on the South Bank of the River Thames in the borough of Lambeth.
- Princess Diana’s Memorial: can be found in the southwest corner of Hyde Park. It was designed to express her love of children. Princess Diana’s Memorial was officially opened in July 2004 by Queen Elizabeth II.

Brighton offers many cool, green relaxing places to get away from the hustle bustle of the beach and pier. As a matter of fact, there are 98 parks and gardens in the area. One of them is Kipling Gardens in Rottingdean. Rudyard Kipling lived at The Elms from 1897-1902 where you will find the Kipling Gardens. You can picnic in the garden and check out the herb garden and the croquet lawn.
All told, there are 14,000 acres in the Brighton and Hove area that have been awarded National Park status in recognition of the beauty of the South Downs. Go for a bike ride or a walk and enjoy the local plants and wildlife. It is a place of peace and quiet right near the activity of the beaches and night life.
