Cape Coral is located in Lee County Fl: the population of Cape Coral is close to 170,000 and it is the largest city in Southwest Florida. Climate is subtropical.
Cape Coral is also known as the city of Canals, the city has over 400 miles of canals the most in the world. The canals cross the city, so it’s not only close to the water, but it’s almost built on water. “The Cape” as the locals call it is also known as sleepy town as most of the people are retired. The majority of tourists are also snowbirds to the cape.
For the most part people staying at Cape Coral travel across to Fort Myers for entertainment and dining. There is a pretty good variety of restaurants, pubs and shops along the Cape Coral Pkwy. For dining the Del Prado Steak House is trendy, as is the Carrabba Italian Grill.
Special events that draw visitors to the area are the July 4th festival famous as the Red White and Boom, this is the largest July 4th party in Southwest Florida.
Winter travelers also flock here for the annual Festival of the Arts which is held the 2nd weekend in January. Well over 300 artists and craft people attend this event which attracts over 100,000 people a year. The event is held along Coral Parkway.
For a small community there are still plenty of things to do. The Cape Coral Water Splash Park is a big hit with the kids. Prices are affordable. The Cape Coral Museum is also a famous attraction. Access to multiple beaches also makes this the best place for travelers. Ft. Myers Beach, nature trails and lots of water activities are very admired. Shopping is limited to small boutiques and souvenir shops as mentioned; most eager shoppers head across the bridge and go to the Tangers Outlet mall in Fort Myers.
If you bring your golf clubs with you head down to The Oaks of Cape Coral or another public course is The Golf Club of Cape Coral. Both decent courses for the price.
